A 4-year-old girl left her mom feeling humbled after digging out some of her old senior school pictures.

Mom Sadie Clements (@sadiejoclements) posted a reel on Instagram, which captured the moment her daughter, Phoebe, was rifling through the photos. When Sadie asked her if she still looked like the photo, Phoebe replied, "Not really." After she pressed for answers, shots were fired. "Well, you just look pretty on this picture," Phoebe said. "But now you're not."

Sadie, who is also mom to Winnie with husband Caleb, told Newsweek that the old school photos resurfaced mid clear-out.

"I laid them out to show my husband," Sadie said. "We met in college, and I don’t think he’d ever seen them."

Feeling well and truly humbled, the matter was made worse by the fact that Sadie had just had a baby. "I asked if I looked different because I was an absolute hot mess," she added. "I just laughed because she wasn’t wrong!"

In her caption, Sadie summed up the moment with the hashtag #kidssaythedarndestthings. As an elementary school teacher for 10 years, she is well aware how brutally honest kids can be "whether we want them to be or not," Sadie added.

Her reel has clocked up almost 800,000 views on Instagram. Over on TikTok (@clements089) the clip also went viral.

"No one will humble you quicker than a 4 year old girl," one user wrote.

"At least she recognized you! My daughter pointed to a wedding photo of me and said ‘who is that?’" another posted.

A third commented, "It’s the shaky laugh before she had to deliver the blow."

"I worked in a pre k with 4 year old they were full of compliments," one said.

Another schoolteacher weighed in: "Aw, harsh. Kids drop those truth bombs. I was a teacher. I heard it all the time."

One user joked that it was a "low blow."

"Tons of people—mostly women—sharing their stories of out of pocket and hilarious things that their kids have said to them," Sadie said of the reaction.

As for Phoebe, now 8 years old, she was "shook" by how her mom used to look and didn’t believe it was her in the photos.
