Manchester City's title party may have been delayed for another week, but their crowning remains inevitable.

Manchester United's victory over bitter rivals City on Saturday (April 7) increased the gap to Liverpool for second place which, Jose Mourinho said, was the most important achievement of the day.

But Liverpool now look set to hit back in the transfer market, to swoop in and take one of Mourinho's most trusted lieutenants this summer.

Here, Newsweek provides you with all the news and rumors swirling around the Premier League on Monday (April 9), starting at Anfield:

With Marouane Fellaini's contract at Manchester United expiring at the end of this season, there are a string of clubs interested in the 30-year-old Belgian. According to L'Equipe, that includes Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco in France, but also United's rivals Liverpool. It says the club will offer Fellaini a three-year deal in the summer.

Down the road on Merseyside, Everton are considering spending £25 million on Aaron Cresswell, according to The Sun. The 28-year-old left-back is currently playing for West Ham, where he was signed by current Everton manager Sam Allardyce four years ago.

Manchester United are hoping to gain ground on City next season, which would be helped by beating Pep Guardiola's team to the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred. Both teams are interested in the 25-year-old at Shakhtar Donetsk, according to the Daily Mirror.

West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster would stay at the Hawthorns even if the club was relegated from the Premier League this season, according to the Daily Mail. The Baggies are currently 10 points from safety with five games to go.

Prior to the Manchester derby on Saturday, Guardiola claimed that Manchester City were offered the opportunity to sign Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from United by their agent Mino Raiola, as quoted in the Daily Mirror.
