Liverpool vs. Norwich City: Where to Watch EPL, Live Stream, Team News and Odds

The 28th Premier League season begins on Friday and the honor of lifting the curtain on the new campaign falls to Liverpool and Norwich City.

Logic suggests these two teams will find each other at the opposite ends of the table come May, but the expectations are high in both camps ahead of the upcoming season.

Last season, Liverpool amassed 97 points—the highest total in English top-flight history for a second-place team—and came agonizingly close to ending a 29-year-wait for a league title.

Manchester City eventually pipped the Reds to the post by a single point, but Jurgen Klopp more than consoled his charges by winning the Champions League after beating Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid 2-0.

However deserved a reward a sixth European Cup was, lifting the domestic title remains an obsession for Liverpool. Klopp has kept the checkbook in his pocket this summer, confident a settled squad was more important than any major signings.

While Dutch teenager Sepp van den Berg is the Reds' only recruit, Norwich manager Daniel Farke has added a host of new faces as he looks to keep the Canaries in the top-flight.

Norwich won promotion in style last season, topping the Championship with 94 points and 93 goals scored. Finnish striker Teemu Pukki scored 29 goals, adding 10 assists and winning the Golden Boot as Championship top scorer.

Farke has been busy in the summer, signing five players. Full-back Sam Byram has arrived from West Ham, while goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann, defender Ibrahim Amadou and winger Patrick Roberts joined on loan from German side Schalke 04, Spain's Sevilla and Manchester City respectively.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Friday.

When and where is the game?

Liverpool hosts Norwich City at Anfield on Friday, August 9, with kick-off scheduled for 8 p.m. local time (3 p.m. ET).

Norwich have conceded five goals in two of the last three visits to Anfield, although they left Merseyside with a creditable 1-1 draw when they last played Liverpool away in September 2015.

TV coverage

The game will be broadcast live on NBCSN.

Live stream

A live stream will be available via NBC Sports website, NBC Sports Gold and the NBC Sports app. Live stream for selected games will also be available via fuboTV.

Form

Liverpool's preseason was a mixed bag, with wins against Bradford City and Tranmere Rovers followed by two defeats and a draw in the U.S. and a 3-0 loss to Napoli.

A win against Olympique Lyon last week was followed by a penalty shootout defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Klopp has insisted his side shouldn't be judged on preseason friendlies and he will have been encouraged by what he saw in the second half against City.

Norwich also lacked consistency in preseason, beating Bundesliga heavyweights Schalke 04 and Ligue 1 side Toulouse, but suffering a heavy defeat against Atalanta, last season's surprise package in Serie A.

The Canaries lost to Brentford 3-1 but beat fellow Championship side Luton 5-1.

Team news

On Thursday, Klopp confirmed Sadio Mane will feature on Friday night. The Senegalese took a two-week break last month following his Africa Cup of Nations exertions, and while he has only trained for four days Klopp expects to field him.

Mohamed Salah, who like Mane was given an extended break after the Africa Cup of Nations, is also expected to start after playing in the Community Shield on Sunday. Alisson and Roberto Firmino should also feature.

Norwich coach Daniel Farke, meanwhile will be without center-back Timm Klose, who is suffering from a hip injury. Long-term absentees Christoph Zimmermann and Alex Tettey will also miss the game

Odds

According to Oddschecker, Liverpool is a 13/100 favorite (-750 in moneyline terms), while the draw is at 33/4 and Norwich is a 20/1 outsider.
