Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather Leaves Viewers Outraged as Fans Want Their Money Back

Boxing fans expressed their disappointment en masse on Sunday night, following the long-awaited exhibition fight between Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather.

After weeks of anticipation, the bout went the full eight-round distance as the pair faced off at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium—leaving no official winner, in line with exhibition rules.

Stepping into the ring against Mayweather, 44—who retired from the sport in 2017 with an impressive 50-0 record—the result meant that YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul, 26, was able to walk out of the ring with his dignity intact.

There was little to shout about for fans who had tuned in to watch the pay-per-view event, with many taking to Twitter to reveal they found it to be a lackluster affair.

"I literally paid 50$ only to see them hugging," wrote @Prashis_h. "I want a refund."

Twitter user @musesoftheminds shared a picture of a weeping Kandi Burruss, writing: "That fight was terrible, but it would have been worse if I had paid."

"Logan Paul after round 4 be like...," tweeted @PsgSpecter above a picture of Paul and Mayweather hugging in the ring, superimposed on a pack of Huggies.

Staying with the hugging theme, @imllilia posted a snap of the pugilists in the same pose, quipping: "Logan and Floyd every 5 seconds."

Posting a gif of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa and Carl Weathers' Apollo Creed hugging mid-celebration, @kassidido133 said: "i'm gonna tell my kids this was floyd mayweather and logan paul."

"Truly feel bad for anyone who dropped $50 on this," tweeted @kirabankss, alongside yet another image of the fighters hugging in the ring.

Meanwhile, @jaiirohw shared a snapshot of Mayweather posing before stacks of cash, adding the caption: "Mayweather after hugging a youtuber 30 minutes."

Disappointment was also expressed by the crowd, who booed in the stadium as the final bell rang, after expectations of an explosive bout were met with little more than a sparring match.

Paul making it to the end of the fight without getting knocked out was deemed all the more impressive because he had only previously fought fellow YouTube star KSI, to whom he lost in a rematch.

Speaking after the fight, Mayweather said: "I had fun, I'm not 21 anymore. He's a great, young fighter better than I thought he was. He's a tough raw competitor, I was surprised by him tonight."

He continued: "I want to thank all the fans who came out, I want to thank the fans who bought pay per view."

On whether he would be fighting again, the sportsman said: "We don't know what the future holds, I have to talk to my team. I'm not 25 anymore but I had fun."

Mayweather—nicknamed "Money"—had previously estimated that he was expecting to earn between $50 million and $100 million from the fight.

Meanwhile, Paul was clearly in a celebratory mood, as he said post-fight: "It's one of the greatest moments of my life. I'm happy to have made it out."

Paul is said to have been guaranteed a $250,000 pay check, along with 10 per cent of the pay-per-view revenue.

In the lead-up to the fight, the Florida State Boxing Commission announced the rules for the bout, including knockouts being made legal, no headgear, no judges and no official winner being read at the end.
