What Is Love, Death & Robots About?

If you are new to the world of Love, Death & Robots and want to know what all of the hype is about... Newsweek has everything you need to know.

The critically acclaimed series consists of stand-alone episodes, each under 20 minutes long. So far, the shortest episode has been just 6 minutes and the longest 18 minutes.

It's an anthology series, meaning each episode is totally different. However, there have been some exceptions. For example, in May 2021, creator Tim Miller and supervising director Jennifer Yuh Nelson announced the "Three Robots" sequel during a live Reddit AMA when they were asked if there would be any stories from the first two seasons revisited.

"Three Robots" followed the story of, you guessed it, three robots who exist in a post-apocalyptic world alongside the humans who survived.

Each episode is also produced by a different cast and crew, though the series is produced by Deadpool director Tim Miller, Mindhunter's executive producer Joshua Donen, Mindhunter creator David Fincher, and Jennifer Miller.

It was conceived by Tim Miller and Fincher, who wanted to make a film inspired by the comic series Heavy Metal.

Each episode also deals with Love, Death, and Robots. Sometimes it's all three themes, sometimes it is just one.

Who Stars in Love, Death & Robots?

Unfortunately, the names of the cast and crew members behind Season 3 of Love, Death & Robots have not yet been revealed.

Fans can expect to find out all of the details closer to the show's release date on May 20.

Speaking to Variety, Miller confirmed Love, Death & Robots writer John Scalzi will be penning an episode in the new series. He was behind the episode "Automated Customer Service" in Season 2 and "Three Robots" in Season 1.

He said: "We've got Volume 3 coming out soon, and I could not be more excited, we've got some big stories for people, one of which you already know which is another installment of those three crazy robots with a story by John Scalzi."

The first two seasons featured some pretty big names to voice some of the show's characters including Michael B. Jordan, Josh Brener, Gary Anthony Williams and Chris Parnell, so fans could be in for a treat in Season 3.
