Prominent Republicans reacted to new video footage appearing to show the perspective of an ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
Why It Matters
Good, a 37-year-old mother, was fatally shot by an ICE officer amid a series of immigration enforcement operations in major cities under President Donald Trump’s administration.

The shooting has drawn scrutiny toward ICE, as critics say video footage has shown she was attempting to drive away from the officers at the time, and the shooting was unnecessary. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), however, has alleged that Good sought to weaponize her vehicle against the ICE officer and that he feared for his life.
What To Know
A new video, first reported by Alpha News, shows the perspective of an ICE agent involved in the shooting. It drew quick reaction on social media, including from many Republicans such as Vice President JD Vance.
“Watch this, as hard as it is. Many of you have been told this law enforcement officer wasn't hit by a car, wasn't being harassed, and murdered an innocent woman. The reality is that his life was endangered and he fired in self-defense,” Vance wrote on X.
“What the press has done in lying about this innocent law enforcement officer is disgusting. You should all be ashamed of yourselves," Vance said.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt also responded to the footage, writing, “The media smeared an ICE Agent who properly defended himself from being run over by organized leftist protesters who were impeding an active law enforcement operation. The reason trust in the media is at an all-time low is because they intentionally lie to the public to advance the Democrats’ narrative. That’s exactly what they did in this case in Minnesota. More evidence here."
Donald Trump Jr. wrote, “Virtually the entire leftwing media owes @JDVance an apology - Starting with @CNN This video proves that he was right and they were all full of s*** as usual!!!!”
Former Fox News host Eric Bolling wrote on X, “Any further questions leftists?”
Conservative radio host Erick Erickson wrote on X: “Kinda makes it look like she did hit him.”
Others disagreed with the viewpoints shared by Vance and other Republicans.
“The idea that this man feared for his life in that moment is insane. She has a friendly exchange with him 20 seconds before and the car is going 2 miles an hour!!’ Tim Miller, a former Republican strategist who has since left the GOP amid his opposition to Trump, wrote on X.
“Holy. He was recording her on his iPhone, and he shot her out of anger. This is so incredibly damning,” wrote commentator Ally Sammarco, a former Republican.
Democratic commentator Harry Sisson wrote on X: “This is the footage and it completely destroys any excuses MAGA has been making for this ICE agent.”
What Happens Next
ICE continues to face increased scrutiny over the fatal shooting of Good, which remains under investigation. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, on Friday called for the federal government to include the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in its investigation of the shooting.
