UPS will deliver on New Year's Eve. However, UPS observes New Year's Day as a holiday and will not deliver mail on January 1. The only UPS service that will run on New Year's Day is the UPS Express Critical service. UPS services will run as usual on January 2.

FedEx Holiday Schedule

FedEx services will run on New Year's Eve, but FedEx Express and FedEx Freight and FedEx Office will run with modified hours. FedEx observes New Year's Day as a holiday so the only FedEx services that will run is FedEx Custom Critical. All services will run as normal on January 2, except for FedEx office which will run on modified hours.

New Year's Day as a Federal Holiday

New Year's Day has been a federal holiday since 1885. Non-essential federal government offices are closed on New Year's Day and federal employees are paid even if they have the day off. Employees of private companies often either have the day off or receive special pay on New Year's Day.

Other federal holidays observed nationwide in the U.S. are Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
