Man Advocates Public Executions While Opposing Abortion In Viral Video

A man was captured advocating for public executions and also opposing abortion in a video that has gone viral on social media.

The clip shows Jason Selvig, party of comedy duo The Good Liars, speaking to the man attending the National Rifle Association's event in Houston, Texas, last month.

"We talked to a guy at the NRA convention who said we could stop mass shootings if teachers carried guns and we brought back public executions," The Good Liars tweeted Tuesday along with the clip, which has so far amassed more than 325,000 views.

"You're not going to go into a building if all the teachers are armed," the man tells Selvig outside the event, which was held days after a teenage gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

"So you'd like the teachers to carry weapons?" Selvig asked.

"Yeah, everybody should be allowed to carry a weapon. Except maybe on airplane," the man replied.

Selvig followed up by asking if the man thought students would feel intimidated if their teachers had guns. "No. I want them there," he said.

"And so teachers with guns, possible solution...," Selvig said, moments before the man started calling for the U.S. to bring back public executions.

"Yeah, I know it is. And they need to put to death all these people who are on death row...Put them to death quickly," he said.

"You want, you want to kill all those people?" Selvig asked.

"Yeah, they oughta have public execution where everybody sees it," the man said. "Like the old days. I'm all for public execution."

At this point, Selvig asks for the man's thoughts on abortion, which in Texas has been sharply curtailed under a restrictive law that bans the procedure after roughly six weeks of pregnancy.

"I'm against abortion. That's murder," the man immediately responded.

"Wait, you said you're against abortion... but you want to bring back public executions?" Selvig asked.

"Yeah," the man said.

"I just wanted to make sure I got got got the info there. OK," Selvig said.

The man then goes on to describe how he thinks Americans could enjoy public executions.

"They oughta have public execution so everybody can see it," he said. "Bring your lunch and drink your favourite drink and we'll watch the execution."

"Seems normal. Why not?" Selvig responded.

"Yeah," the man responded, apparently not picking up on the irony of his remarks.

In another viral video from the NRA convention, Selvig fact-checked a man who claimed hammers kill more people than guns in the U.S.

Selvig also ridiculed NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre with a satirical speech that went viral.

Selvig has been contacted for comment.

The Good Liars comedy duo are comprised of Jason Selvig and Davram Stiefler, and have spoofed numerous people on camera for several years.
