Watch: Man Threatens to Call ICE on Spanish Speaking Women in New York City Cafe
A man was caught on video threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement on two women for speaking Spanish to a coffee shop employee in New York City on Wednesday.
The unidentified white male, who was wearing a white collared shirt in the video, began shouting at the two women and an employee at a Fresh Kitchen on Madison Avenue in New York City on Wednesday.
"Every person I listen to. He's speaking it, she's speaking it. This is America," the man said.
When confronted by an employee of the cafe, the man continued to yell at the women and threatened to call ICE.
"Your clients and your staff are speaking Spanish to staff when they should be speaking English...My guess is they're undocumented, so my next call is to ICE to have each one of them taken out of my country. If they have the balls to come here and live off my money," the man said. "I pay for their welfare. I pay for their ability to be here."
The video was posted to Facebook by Edward Suazo. Suazo wrote that the video was recorded by his wife while she and her friend were grabbing lunch at the coffee shop. The two were speaking to the waiter when, according to Suazo, the man "jumps in and started to call the waiter and my wife and her best friend all types of names and threatened to call ICE on them and the employees."
"What a big man talking down to couple of women and a helpless employee," Edward wrote on Facebook. "I wish someone tells me I can't speak in my native language! First of all they wasn't talking to you!! A-----e!"
Newsweek reached out to Suazo and Fresh Kitchen for comment but did not hear back in time for publication.
