Well that didn't take long.

Four days after re-signing for his boyhood club Everton after 13 years at Manchester United, Wayne Rooney scored on his debut for the English Premier League club in a pre-season match in Tanzania, East Africa.

Rooney, 31, scored the opening goal in Everton's 2-1 victory over Kenyan champions Gor Mahia on Thursday in Dar es Salaam, the commercial capital of Tanzania, where Everton are currently on tour.

The Kenyan side equalized minutes after Rooney's strike, but Everton youngster Kieran Dowell scored a winner with less than 10 minutes left.

Rooney started his career at Everton, making his senior debut in 2002. Two years later, Manchester United signed the England forward for more than £25 million ($), a record fee for a player under 20 years of age (Rooney was 18 at the time).

But after struggling to keep a first-team place under new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho last season, Rooney decided to move on this summer. He will be replaced by Romelu Lukaku, who moved from Everton to Manchester United in a £75 million deal earlier in July.
