Transfer News: Manchester United Fight to Keep Stars, Tottenham Join Race For Ryan Bertrand

Twenty-four hours is a long time in football. On Wednesday morning (April 11), Manchester United was set to lose two of their best and most exciting young players, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. The two men were reportedly looking to move elsewhere in search of first team football.

Now, that's not so certain. In a transfer round-up that includes Chelsea players remaining, Tottenham interested in signing another England international, and West Ham making an ambitious move, we begin again at Old Trafford.

According to The Times, Manchester United striker Martial will seek assurances from Jose Mourinho over what opportunities he would have should he stay at the club. Talk of a potential move to Juventus, Spurs or PSG was circulating on Wednesday as Martial held off on signing a new five-year contract. The 22-year-old Frenchman wants guarantees before he puts pen to paper.

One of the rivals for his position, Rashford, was also considering a move away from Manchester United. But according to ESPN, the fact that the 20-year-old came through the club's academy means United are going to make sure he doesn't leave.

United are one of the clubs interested in Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand. According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for the 28-year-old England left-back, along with Everton and Newcastle.

Over in West London, Chelsea could be set to lose Danny Drinkwater, the 28-year-old midfielder who signed from Leicester City last summer, at the end of the season. According to The Guardian, he will decide his future at the end of the season.

One of the stars at Stamford Bridge who does look set to remain is Willian. The Brazilian forward has told the Daily Mirror he is happy at Chelsea despite repeated attempts from Manchester United and former manager Mourinho to sign him.

On the other side of London, West Ham are planning an ambitious move to bring Barcelona's 24-year-old midfielder Andre Gomes from the Camp Nou to the London Stadium next summer, according to the Daily Mirror. They join a race for the Portuguese international along with Tottenham Hotspur.

And finally, spending at the Etihad Stadium does not looking likely to slow down just yet. According to the Daily Telegraph, Pep Guardiola is targeting three players to sign in the summer transfer window, which is likely to take Manchester City's total spent to £600 million in just two years.
