Marianne Williamson Prompts Confused Reactions After Criticizing Healthcare System, Saying Trump Won With 'MAGA'

2020 Democratic candidate Marianne Williamson drew ridicule online after she criticized American's healthcare system and argued that Donald Trump won the presidency in 2016 with his "Make America Great Again" slogan.

During round two of the first Democratic Presidential debate on Thursday evening, Williamson was asked how she would "lower the cost of prescription drugs" in America.

"First of all, the government should never have made a deal with the big pharma that they couldn't negotiate, that was just part of the regular corruption by which multinational corporations have their way with us," Williamson said, before pivoting to attack her fellow candidates for "having all these plans."

"I'll tell you one thing, while it's nice that we got all these plans, but if you think we're going to beat Donald Trump by just having all these plans, you got another thing coming because he didn't win by saying he had a plan. He won by simply saying 'Make America Great Again,'" Williamson said. "We've gotta get deeper than just these superficial fixes, as important as they are."

Williamson then used the remainder of her speaking time to criticize America's healthcare, arguing the "superficial fixes" proposed won't fix the broken system.

"Even if we're just talking about these superficial fixes, ladies and gentlemen, we don't have a healthcare system in the United States," she said. "We have a sickness-care system in the United States. We just wait until somebody gets sick and then we talk about who's going to pay for the treatment and how they're gonna be treated. We need to talk about why so many Americans have unnecessary chronic illnesses, so many more compared to other countries."

Shortly after, Twitter exploded with hundreds of users ridiculing Williamson's statement.

"Harris is owning the stage tonight. The good news is that according to Marianne Williamson, stages do not exist, and we are all spirits unified with the planet through love," Ben Shapiro tweeted.
