Rudy Giuliani Says He and Ukraine Prosecutor Wanted US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch 'Out of the Way': Report

President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani confirmed that he and allegedly "corrupt" former Ukraine prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko needed ex-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch "out of the way" in order to conduct an investigation into the Biden family, The New Yorker reported Monday.

Yovanovitch, who Trump fired in April, was reportedly the target of a smear campaign led by Giuliani, who was being fed information by Lutsenko. The former Ukraine prosecutor general's name appears 230 times, almost twice as often as Trump's, in the sworn testimonies of the Ukrainian officials. He is typically referred to simply as "the corrupt prosecutor general," but in an interview with The New Yorker's Adam Entous, Giuliani himself reportedly confirmed that he and several corrupt Ukrainian officials conspired to oust Yovanovitch, one of the House impeachment inquiry's star witnesses.

"I believed that I needed [Marie] Yovanovitch out of the way," Giuliani told The New Yorker writer. "She was going to make the investigations difficult for everybody."

The former New York City mayor and U.S. prosecutor behind the high-profile convictions of mafia leaders compiled a dossier on Joe Biden and Hunter Biden's ties to Burisma as well as Yovanovitch, the magazine reported.

Giuliani forwarded this information to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and which was shared with the FBI and with the New Yorker reporter.

Guiliani, according to the New Yorker report, told John Solomon, a reporter for The Hill, how he planned to sell the information to the American public: "I'll go on TV. You go on TV. You do columns.'"

Yovanovitch said she felt threatened during her second day of testimony before the House as the president tweeted out condemnations of her tenure, saying everywhere she went "went bad."

"I have the right to speak. I have freedom of speech," Yovanovitch told impeachment inquiry lawmakers as the president ridiculed her in real-time on social media.
