Marjorie Taylor Greene Unleashes Transphobic Attack on Caitlyn Jenner

Controversial Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) unleashed a transphobic attack on fellow Republican Caitlyn Jenner and told Californian Conservatives not to support her.

Rep. Greene shared her comments on Twitter following the hostile reception Jenner received from some at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas over the weekend.

She unleashed an attack on Jenner, which many would consider to be transphobic, and urged Republicans not to work to have her elected as governor of California.

The controversial lawmaker said: "GOP support and consultants working to elect Jenner for Governor in CA are playing the left's stupid identity politics game.

"A game that sells out our faith, family and freedoms. Stop promoting this man in a dress and never-Trumper. CA patriots worked too hard and deserve better."

Her tweet was liked more than 2,620 times and was retweeted on more than 760 occasions as of Monday morning.

Among the commenters voicing their disapproval over Rep. Greene's comments was Democrat Holly McCormack, who is running against the incumbent Republican.

She tweeted: "Transphobia is never acceptable, especially from a member of Congress. After I take your office next year, I'll be using my platform to preach love and acceptance rather than hate and division."

Conservatives also called out attacks on Jenner by fellow Republicans at CPAC, with commentator Tomi Lahren saying they were "despicable."

She said in a tweet: "The attacks on Caitlyn Jenner are despicable. I'll go to bat for her every single time and if you want to take my 'conservative' card for it, take it and shove it. Your mob is no better than the Left's and, in fact, it's uglier."

A video from July 9 has been shared on social media that showed the Olympic gold medal decathlete, who is running to be California's governor in the 2022 election, being called a "sick freak" and deadnamed at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas.

Deadnaming designates the practice of deliberately calling a transgender person by the name they used prior to their transition.

In her first press conference after announcing her candidacy to be California's governor, Jenner spoke about being transgender and also a Conservative.

She said: "I am a private citizen of the state of California, I have every right in the world to be able to run for this office and I am on the Republican side. Obviously, I'm on the Republican side.

"But don't put me in this box, like if you're in this box of 'you're a Republican, you have to think this way.'"

Newsweek has contacted Rep. Greene and Jenner for comment.
