What Was Mark Salling's Cause of Death? 'Glee' Star Found Dead in Riverbed

UPDATED: Mark Salling's death has been ruled a suicide. Authorities discovered the actor's body hanging from a tree on Tuesday morning, according to TMZ.

One of Salling's family members contacted the Los Angeles Police Department around 3 a.m. on Tuesday to report him missing. While conducting a "welfare check," police found the actor near a little league baseball field adjacent to a riverbed in Sunland, California, a short distance from where Salling lived.

Glee star Mark Salling was found dead in California on Tuesday. The cause of death is unclear, however, TMZ reported the 35-year-old actor died from an apparent suicide.

His body was discovered in a riverbed in Sunland, not far from where he lived.

Born in Dallas, Salling picked up his first acting credit starring in the 1996 horror film Children of Corn IV: The Gathering. He is best known for his role as Noah "Puck" Puckerman on Glee. He starred on the ABC musical series during its entire six-season run, from 2009 to 2015.

Salling was awaiting a prison sentence on charges of child pornography. He was arrested on December 25, and prosecutors later discovered that the actor had more than 50,000 photos of underage children in his possession. He was facing a four- to seven-year sentence in the California prison system. Salling's hearing was scheduled for March.
