'Mean Girls' Day 2018: Where Are Lindsay Lohan and The Cast Now?

It is a scene Americans may never forget: Cady Heron was in Ms. Norbury's math class when the gorgeous Aaron Samuels turned around and asked, "What day is it?"

Her answer? "It's October 3."

The scene occurred in the 2004 blockbuster Mean Girls, based on Rosalind Wiseman's best-seller Queen Bees and Wannabes. While it was seemingly a menial exchange between two characters, the short conversation catastrophically offset high school life for Cady as she instantly fell head-over-heels for Aaron, who was the ex-boyfriend of her frenemy and leader of The Plastics girl gang, Regina George.

The moment—in which Cady wears a pink sweater (because "on Wednesdays we wear pink")—also became an American staple after fans of the movie started recognizing the teenaged chick flick every year on October 3, otherwise known as Mean Girls Day.

In the more than 14 years since the film's release, Mean Girls has gone on to gross more than $130 million worldwide and generated a cult following. Fans still take to social media to flood their timelines with memes, gifs and quotes from the movie, especially on Mean Girls Day. The film skyrocketed the careers of many of the cast members.

With the annual day rolling around once again on Wednesday, take a look back at all the cast members and find out where they are and what they're up to now.

Cady Heron

The film's protagonist, played by Lindsay Lohan, started out sweet and nice, but when she infiltrated The Plastics to ruin Regina's life (and steal Aaron), she essentially transformed into the mean girl she initially attempted to take down. Lohan was already a burgeoning Hollywood darling when the film debuted in April 2004, but the role catapulted her career to new heights. With her success came a ton of scandal, though, and her early adult years were riddled with salacious headlines regarding her many arrests, court appearances, DUIs, rehab stints and party girl behavior. She's since moved overseas. She is particularly fond of living in Dubai and Greece, where her last venture, the beach club Lohan House, is located.

Regina George

The head-chick-in-charge of The Plastics was played by Rachel McAdams. Since starring as the meanest mean girl of them all, McAdams has gone on to appear in several films and TV Series, earning an Oscar nomination for the 2015 film Spotlight. While unconfirmed, McAdams is rumored to star in 2020's Sherlock Holes 3 alongside Jude Law. McAdams also became a mom after giving birth to her first child with partner Jamie Linden in April.

Gretchen Wieners

Lacey Chabert was already a longtime actress when she played as Regina's best friend Gretchen, one of the nicer members of The Plastics and the heiress of Toaster Strudel. Chabert's first prominent role was in the early 1990s when she starred as Claudia Salinger in TV drama Party of Five, which aired on Fox from 1994 to 2000. Chabert's career has continued to flourish, scoring dozens of roles in romance and holiday films on the Hallmark channel in particular. Chambert will take the lead in her seventh Hallmark film, Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe, during the 2018 holiday season.

Karen Smith

Played by Amanda Seyfried, Karen certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was by far the dumbest, most clueless member of The Plastics and was easily influenced by Regina. In real life, Seyfried is an actual powerhouse, starring in several films including the award-winning Mama Mia alongside Meryl Streep and 2012's Les Misérables.

Aaron Samuels

Johnathan Bennett stared as the tall, dark and handsome apple of Cady's eye. Since he asked the character about the day of the week, he's continued to work as an actor. He's currently the host of Food Network's Halloween Wars and is set to star alongside Hilary Duff in the upcoming feature film The Haunting of Sharon Tate.

Ms. Norbury

Award-winning actress, director and producer Tina Fey starred as the lovable math teacher and Mathletes coach. In addition to starring in the movie, Fey also wrote the Mean Girls script. Fey was already a household name before the movie thanks to her lengthy tenure on Saturday Night Live. However, after the film's debut, she went on to create multi-Emmy Winning comedy series 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt as well as star in several movies and TV shows.

Janis and Damien

The first friends Cady made when she first entered North Shore High School was Janis Ian and Damien, played by Lizzy Caplan and Daniel Franzese respectively. Both actors continue to work in their chosen profession. In fact, Caplan, star of Showtime's Masters of Sex, is set to appear in the 2019 TV series Are You Sleeping with Octavia Spencer while Franzese is a standup comedy regular. He recently wrapped up his solo comedy tour, Yass! You're Amazing, earlier this year.
