Mega Millions Results, Numbers for 8/27/19: Did Anyone Win the $103 Million Jackpot on Tuesday (Last) Night?

The Mega Millions lottery took place last night with an estimated jackpot of $103 million (cash option $73.7 million)—but did anyone win the massive prize?

The winning numbers yesterday were 8, 12, 23, 39 and 43, and the mega ball was 6. Nobody managed to win the jackpot by correctly matching all numbers, but one person in New York state did successfully match all five white balls to win the $1 million prize. That person did not apply a megaplier to their lottery ticket, and so their winnings will not be doubled to the megaplier prize of $2 million.

A further 17 people managed to match four numbers and the mega ball to win $10,000, with two of those people applying a 2x megaplier to win $20,000. With the top prize money rolling over, the next jackpot, which will be drawn on Friday, is now an estimated $113 million—with a cash option of $80.8 million.

Mega Millions draws are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 pm ET and can be watched on YouTube. As explained on the Mega Millions website: "Five white balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70 and one gold Mega Ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 25. You win if the numbers on one row of your ticket match the numbers of the balls drawn on that date.

"There are nine ways to win a prize, from $2 to jackpot. If no one wins the jackpot, the money is added to the jackpot for the next drawing. Overall chances of winning a prize are 1 in 24."

Mega Millions is available to play in 44 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. There have been five jackpot winners so far this year, according to the official website. The largest prize of $522 million ($340 million cash) was won on June 7 by a ticket sold in San Diego. The most recent jackpot winner received $168 million ($108.5 million cash option) after buying a ticket on July 23 in Exeter, New Hampshire.

On July 30, Martin Oliverson of Jacksonville, Oregon, took home a $3 million payout after matching all five white balls. Oliverson told Mega Millions: "I was going to take the lump sum, and figured they would take half of the prize, then take taxes out. My wife had to sit down when we learned that since this isn't the top prize, we get the entire $3 million. We won double what we thought!"
