Mega Millions Numbers, Results for 2/25/22: Did Anyone Win the $87 Million Jackpot?

The jackpot for the Mega Millions lottery for February 25 was $87 million and had a cash-value option of $57.7 million.

The numbers drawn were 15, 31, 40, 56 and 66 for the white balls, while the yellow Mega Ball was 4, and the Megaplier was 3, according to the Mega Millions website.

No one matched all five white balls and the Mega Ball to win the jackpot. There were also no winners of the $1 million, the second biggest prize on offer.

The jackpot grows again for Tuesday's drawing and now stands at $102 million with a cash value of $67.7 million.

There were 12 winners of the $10,000 prize with tickets matching four white balls and a Mega Ball. Six of them trebled their money by using the Megaplier, which cost an extra dollar.

There were also 256 winners of the $500 prize, with 46 of them playing the Megaplier.

Among the smaller prizes, 15,014 tickets managed to win $10 with three of the white balls' numbers and 14,306 got an equivalent amount by getting two white balls and the yellow ball.

In total, there were over 456,000 tickets that won at least $2.

There has not been a winner of the jackpot since last month, when a ticket holder in California won the top prize of $426 million. The cash option was worth $292.9 million.

The winning numbers for that drawing were chosen at the Chevron station in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles County which will earn a $1 million retail bonus for selling the ticket.

It was California's third jackpot since the start of the year. A ticket bought in the Golden State hit the SuperLotto Plus jackpot for a $13 million win while another jackpot ticket won $316 million in Powerball five days into the new year, according to the Mega Millions website.

Mega Millions jackpots are often won in January, with a $1.05 billion top prize going in the first month of 2021 in 2019 ($437 million in New York) and in 2018 ($451 million in Florida).

How To Play Mega Millions

One of the country's most popular lotteries, the Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET.

Five white balls are taken from balls numbered 1 through 70 while a yellow Mega Ball is taken from a set numbered from 1 to 25.

A ticket costs $2 per play and for an extra dollar in most states, players can take the Megaplier option which can increase non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

If the jackpot is not won, the money is added to the top prize for the following draw and so builds up. When a ticket does win the jackpot, the top prize is reset to an average of $20 million.

Tickets can be bought in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, they can not be bought in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.

The chances of winning with a $2 Mega Millions ticket are one in 303 million.
