Mega Millions Results, Numbers for 5/8/20: Did Anyone Win the $231 Million Jackpot Prize Last Night?

The winning numbers in Friday night's Mega Millions lottery draw are 5, 20, 22, 61, and 70, and the Mega Ball was 4. The jackpot was an estimated $231 million with a cash option of $184.9 million, but did anyone win the grand prize?

Nobody won the Mega Millions jackpot last night so it has rolled over to Tuesday night's draw, where it will be worth $248 million with a cash option $197.4 million.

While nobody matched five numbers to win $1 million either, 10 players won $10,000 each by matching four numbers and the Mega Ball. Nobody matched four numbers and the Mega Ball with a Megaplier, which would have won a player $20,000, as last night's Megaplier was X2.

More than 350 players won $500 each by matching four numbers and 64 players won $1,000 by matching four numbers using the Megaplier. More than a thousand players won $200 by matching three numbers and the Mega Ball and nearly 200 players won $400 using the Megaplier.

Thousands of players won smaller prizes too. More than 45,000 players won $10 by matching either three numbers or two numbers and the Mega Ball and more than 8,000 players doubled their prizes to $20 using the Megaplier.

How to spot a Mega Millions scam

Mega Millions has issued a warning to players alerting them of a Mega Millions scam. Recently, organizations going by "United States National Lottery," "Mega Millions Mobile Lottery," "USA UK Mega Millions Lottery," "Mega Millions Corporation" or "Mega Millions International Lottery" have been posing as Mega Millions to try and trick people into sending them money or personal information.

According to Mega Millions, these are some tips to follow to avoid being scammed:

  • Be suspicious of anyone who says you won a lottery you have never played or a lottery that is not played in your jurisdiction.
  • Be wary of anyone calling from abroad about a U.S. lottery. You can check caller-ID to see where the person is calling from, but be aware that some scammers disguise their area code.
  • Be suspicious if an email contains misspellings or poor grammar.
  • Be suspicious if they tell you to keep your "win" confidential or if they ask you to pay money to collect your prize.
  • Never give out personal information, your bank details, or send money unless you can verify the company's or solicitor's legitimacy.
  • If you are told to "verify" the prize by calling a certain number, you should instead look up the lottery's real contact information.
  • If you think someone is trying to scam you on the phone, hang up immediately and do not engage them in conversation.
