The winning Mega Millions numbers in last night's draw were 7, 33, 53, 61, and 65, and the Mega Ball was 14. The jackpot was an estimated $229 million but did anyone win?

Nobody won the jackpot last night so it will roll over to the next drawing on Friday when it will be worth an estimated $244 million.

In Tuesday's Mega Millions draw, one player from California won $1 million by matching all five numbers but not the Mega Ball. However, in California, the Mega Millions prize amounts are pari-mutuel which means that the prizes will vary depending on ticket sales and the number of winners. Therefore the prizes differ from the fixed prizes shown on the Mega Millions website and the California winner actually won $889,678.

Additionally, seven players won $10,000 by matching four numbers and three of these winners doubled their prizes to $20,000 using the Megaplier, which was 2X.

Furthermore, 330 players won $500 by matching four numbers and 55 of these winners doubled their prizes to $1,000 using the Mega Ball. More than 900 players won $200 while nearly 200 of these winners doubled their prizes to $400 using the Megaplier.

Nearly 160,000 players won $4 by matching one number and the Mega Ball, with nearly 30,000 doubling their prize, and finally, more than 390,000 players won $2 by matching just the Mega Ball with more than 70,000 doubling their prizes to $4.

How many numbers are in the Mega Millions?

The Mega Millions is made up of five numbers ranging from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number ranging from 1 to 25. To play the Mega Millions lottery, players should choose five numbers and the Mega Ball or have the lottery terminal randomly choose the numbers with Easy Pick or Quick Pick.

To win the jackpot, a player has to match all six numbers. However, there are another eight other ways to win a prize. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350 while the odds of winning $2 are 1 in 37. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.

Additionally, there is a way to potentially multiply the lottery prizes, by using the Megaplier. Most states offer the Megaplier option to increase non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times, costing an additional $1 per play.

The Megaplier is drawn just before the Mega Millions drawing from a pool of 15 balls: five are marked with 2X, six with 3X, three with 4X, and one with 5X.
