Mega Millions Numbers for 10/22/21: Did Anyone Win the $108 Million?

The winning Mega Millions numbers for Friday were 9, 14, 26, 29, and 66, and the Mega Ball number was 22 while the Megaplier was 3X, according to the Mega Millions website.

There was a top prize of $108 million and a cash option of $75.2 million on offer.

This time, after a month of the prize growing, there was a big winner when one ticket holder from Arizona managed to hit the jackpot by matching all five numbers and the Mega Ball.

It is only the second Mega Millions jackpot ever won in the Grand Canyon State, the previous being a whopping $414 million prize on June 9, 2020, the Mega Millions website said.

There was another big winner, with one ticket sold in Georgia matching the five white balls to win $1 million.

There were 13 tickets matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball to take the game's third prize, four of whom tripled their winnings because they included the optional Megaplier, a $1 extra purchase available in most states.

How to play Mega Millions

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET.

The process sees five white balls drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70, while one yellow Mega Ball is drawn from balls numbered 1 through 25. You win if the numbers on your lottery ticket match the numbers of the balls drawn on that date.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 per play. If no one wins the jackpot prize, the money is added to the top prize for the following drawing.

Most states offer a Megaplier option, which increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times.

Before each Mega Millions drawing, the Megaplier is drawn from a pool of 15 balls. Five of these balls are marked with 2X, six with 3X, three with 4X and one with 5X.

Players can buy tickets in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, lottery tickets are not available in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.
