Mega Millions Numbers, Results for 1/8/22: Did Anyone Win $278 Million Jackpot?
Mega Millions' drawing on Friday, January 7 made two lucky players millionaires.
The winning numbers were: 7, 29, 43, 56, 57, and Mega Ball 6. The Megaplier was X3.
No one matched all the numbers to claim the $278 million jackpot, which had a $191.5 million cash option, but two matched five white balls without the Mega Ball.
One of those ticket-holders won $1 million, while another used the Megaplier to triple their prize to $3 million, according to the lottery's official website.
Nine tickets matched four white balls and the Mega Ball for $10,000 prizes. Four more used the Megaplier to treble their winnings.
Meanwhile, 482 tickets matched four white balls to win $500, with 74 of those having a Megaplier.
Some 1,349 tickets matched three white balls and the Mega Ball to win $200; 244 of them had a Megaplier to triple their value.
In total, the January 7 drawing produced more than 850,000 winning tickets of at least $2. The jackpot now grows to an estimated $300 million, with a cash option of $206.7 million, for the next drawing on Tuesday, January 11.

The Mega Millions drawing comes just days after two Powerball ticket holders won a giant jackpot of $630 million jackpot, the seventh highest in the game's history.
One of the tickets was purchased in the Green Bay area, but as of Friday, the ticket holder had not yet claimed their $316 million prize.
That winning ticket was sold at the Jackson Pointe Citgo, 2710 Packerland Drive, in Ashwaubenon. The other was sold in Wisconsin.
Powerball's biggest ever jackpot was $1.586 billion. Three winners, in California, Florida and Tennesse, split the prize in 2016.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot of $1.537 billion was won in 2018 by one ticket, sold in South Carolina.
How To Play Mega Millions
There are Mega Millions drawings every Tuesday and Fridays at 11 p.m. ET.
Five white balls are drawn from balls numbered 1 through 70, and a yellow Mega Ball is drawn from a set numbered from 1 to 25.
Tickets cost $2 per play and for an extra dollar in most states, there is the Megaplier option, which can increase non-jackpot prizes between two and five times.
If no ticket wins the jackpot, the money is added to the top prize for the next drawing. Once the jackpot is won, the top prize is reset to $20 million.
Tickets are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, they cannot be bought in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.
