Mega Millions Numbers, Results for 1/1/19: Where Was The Winning $425 Million Jackpot Ticket Sold On Tuesday (Last) Night?

Someone in New York is staring the New Year on the right foot after winning the $425 Mega Millions jackpot on Tuesday night.

Tuesday night’s jackpot was worth $425 million with a cash option of $254.6 million, according to the Mega Millions website. The winning numbers announced at 11 p.m. EST were 34-44-57-62-70, Mega Ball 14 and Megaplier 4X, the website states.

The winning jackpot ticket was purchased in Glen Head, New York at Brookville Auto Service, according to ABC News. This is the second time someone has won the Mega Millions jackpot on New Year’s Day after one person hit the jackpot in Texas on the first day of the new year in 2008, according to the Mega Millions website.

The next Mega Millions drawing held on Friday night at 11 p.m. EST and will be worth $40 million with a cash option of $23.9 million, according to the Mega Millions website.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday night at 11 p.m. EST. The popular lottery game is played across the U.S. in 44 states, including the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. To play the game, lottery players will choose five numbers ranging from one through 70 and then a sixth number ranging from one through 25, according to the Mega Millions website.

The last person to claim a Mega Millions jackpot was Timothy Monte of Tohajiilee, New Mexico. Monte told lottery officials that he had purchased the ticket at a gas station in Albuquerque for the December 14 drawing.

Monte said he thought he had won $40,000 from the Mega Millions drawing, but actually won $4 million. He had purchased Megaplier for an additional dollar, which quadrupled his winnings to $4 million, according to lottery officials. He accepted his winnings on December 18.

There is still a jackpot winner who has not claimed their prize. There was a ticket sold in South Carolina in October for the $1.5 billion, but the winner has yet to claim the prize, CBS News previously reported. The jackpot winner has until April to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.
