Is Meghan Markle Ready to Be a Mom? Prince Harry's Fiancée Would 'Absolutely Love to Have Children'

Another royal baby could be on the way soon after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot.

It's no secret that Harry wants to have children. Over the years, the young prince has often mentioned his plans to start a family one day and have a few tykes of his own.

Markle has also spoken of her desires to become a mom in the future. In the new Sky documentary Harry and Meghan: A Love Story, airing on Sky One on Wednesday, friends of Markle dish on how fondly she talked about children and motherhood long before she ever met Harry.

Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, Markle's friend and former agent, recalled a time in the Cayman Islands when Markle confided her desires to have kids. "She said to me, 'I would absolutely love to have children, and I can't wait to be a mother,'" Nelthorpe-Cowne said.

Nelthorpe-Cowne was also one of the first people to find out about Markle and Harry's romance. Speaking of one of their last meetings together, Nelthorpe-Cowne said she knew something great must have been happening in Markle's life because the California native had excitement written all over her face. "Meghan and I were at lunch and she was really excited that day at lunch, and I said to her: 'You look fantastic, Meghan. What's going on in your life? You seem so excited,'" Nelthorpe-Cowne recalled.

"And she said, 'Well, yes, I have a date tonight.' And I said: 'With who? Do I know him?' And she said: 'Yes, I'm sure you'll know him. I'm meeting Prince Harry,'" Nelthorpe-Cowne continued.

Harry and Markle are expected to exchange vows at St. George's Chapel in Windsor on May 19.

When the couple announced their engagement in November 2017, Harry, who is the uncle to Prince William and Kate Middleton's three children, gushed over plans to have a little family of his own with Markle. "One step at a time, and hopefully we'll start a family in the near future."
