First lady Melania Trump delivered a speech at the State Department's International Women of Courage award ceremonies Wednesday. It marked one of the few occasions the first lady—who has opted to live in New York City with the youngest Trump son Barron instead of the White House—has stepped into the spotlight since her husband, President Donald Trump, took office in late January.

During the speech, she urged women to go out and take chances as did the honorees at the State Department event.

"To the young people here today: I ask you to allow the triumphs exemplified by these heroic women to inspire you in your own lives and to remind yourself that you, too, are capable of greatness," the first lady said. "Realize that your first steps will always involve taking a leap of faith by believing in yourself, while choosing to replace fear for hope. Let these brave women serve as daily inspiration."

The first lady said the U.S. should urge other nations to support women's causes.

"The United States must send a clear message that we are watching, it is therefore our duty to continue to shine the light on each miraculous victory achieved by women," Trump said.

She also said in her speech, "Wherever women are diminished, the entire world is diminished with them," which drew attention to her own husband's behavior.

The left-wing news site Shareblue, for instance, juxtaposed that statement with the tape of the president talking about grabbing women's genitalia.

Melania Trump now: "Wherever women are diminished, the entire world is diminished with them."

Donald Trump then: "Grab them by the pussy."

"It will be my great honor to share a stage with these amazing women," the first lady said in a statement ahead of the ceremony. "Each of the award recipients has overcome incredible odds in her pursuit to change the world and make it better."
