Memorial Day 2020: Which Stores Are Open? Costco, Home Depot, Lowes Hours and More

Today (May 25, 2020) is Memorial Day—a time when Americans across the country will remember those who fell in American wars.

However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, which has seen many businesses close their doors to aid social distancing and home isolation, many might be unsure whether they can venture out to their favorite store.

Newsweek has taken a look to see which stores are open and which are closed for the Memorial Day holiday.

Which Stores Are Open On Memorial Day?

Liquor stores: These stores are normally open on Memorial Day, however, check your state laws to see if you can buy alcohol during the federal holiday as some do not allow it.

Pharmacies: Many operate restricted opening hours, with CVS advising that people call customer service to confirm whether their local branch is opening. Walgreens will remain open.

Albertsons: Will be opening normal hours on Memorial Day.

Costco: The store closes most holidays including Memorial Day.

Aldi: Running with limited opening hours, so check ahead to confirm opening and closing times.

Kmart: Will be open for its Memorial Day sale.

PetSmart: The pet stores will be open on Memorial Day, but call customer service to check when your local store is open as some may vary.

Fred Meyer: Opens for Memorial Day.

Kohls: The store will be open for its Memorial Day sale.

Kroger: Stores will be opening during the holiday and will have a Memorial Day sale on.

Old Navy: Open for its Memorial Day sale.

Safeway: The superstore will be open on Memorial Day but call ahead to check opening hours.

Publix: The store is operating normal hours during Memorial Day.

Mall of America: Due to the coronavirus outbreak, this shopping complex will not be open until June 1, 2020.

Trader Joes: Operating normal trading hours.

Sears: Open for its Memorial Day sale.

Hobby Lobby: Open normal hours for Memorial Day but check ahead to see if your local store is open, as only select ones have opened following the coronavirus outbreak.

Whole Foods: Operating normal hours on Memorial Day, but check your local store as hours might differ between locations.

Target: The store will be open for its Memorial Day sale. Check with its customer service team for opening hours.

Sam's Club: Will open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Walmart: The superstore brand will remain open for its Memorial Day sale.

7-Eleven: If you need anything quickly, you'll be sorted with this store. It's open most holidays.

Macy's: The store will be open for its Memorial Day sale despite the coronavirus outbreak.

Home Depot: Open on Memorial Day for its sale.

Lowes: Open on Memorial Day with normal hours for its sale.
