Met Gala 2019: Lady Gaga in Her Underwear, Harry Styles Frees the Nipple, Jared Leto Loses His Head

The Met Gala 2019 is happening tonight at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where dozens of stars are walking one of the most highly anticipated red carpets of the year. This year's event honors the Costume Institute's new exhibition, "Camp: Notes on Fashion," and attendees were encouraged to don looks that celebrated frivolity, excess and satire.

"The essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration," wrote Susan Sontag in her 1964 essay Notes on Camp, the exhibit's inspiration. "And Camp is esoteric—something of a private code, a badge of identity even, among small urban cliques.

Tonight that clique included Harry Styles, who arrived in a sheer black lace Gucci top, high-waisted trousers and single pearl earing. Styles, who came accompanied by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, was a co-chair for the gala, alongside Lady Gaga. Serena Williams and, of course, Anna Wintour.

Other notable attendees include Tiffany Haddish, Frank Ocean, Charli XCX, 21 Savage, Shawn Mendes, Miley Cyrus, Hailey Baldwin, Kris Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

Gaga, unsurprisingly, gave the paparazzi something special: Arriving on the carpet in a billowing fuschia gown, she stripped down to a strapless, asymmetrical black gown and started up the museum's steps. But soon she revealed the hot-pink column dress underneath. In her final display, Mother Monster stripped down once more, posing in a glittery bra, fishnets, thigh-high boots and a 28-carat diamond choker from Tiffany's.

She wasn't the only star to make a statement: Jared Leto walked the carpet in a red gown, carrying a fascimile of his own head. And Billy Porter arrived a litter carried by six shirtless men.

Wearing a custom ensemble designed by the Blonds, the Pose star descended from his throne and spread his massive golden wings like a phoenix.
