The Mets signed international free agent shortstop Wandy Asigen to a $3.9 million deal. Asigen is the second-ranked prospect in the international free agency class, per MLB Pipeline.

CBS Sports' Mike Axisa reported that the New York Yankees had a verbal agreement with Asigen before he flipped to the Mets.

Asigen, 16, is the youngest player in MLB Pipeline's top 50 prospects, having been born in the second half of 2009. He's an incredible prospect with true five-tool potential. The Mets landed a good one with Asigen, but they're likely going to need to wait four or five years to see the young infielder in the big leagues.
