Michael Flynn Faces 'Lock Him Up' Chants 2 Years After Leading 'Lock Her Up' Cries For Hillary Clinton
President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn was met with familiar chants of "Lock him up!" Tuesday as he came and went from a federal courthouse in D.C. for a hearing about his sentencing after pleading guilty for lying to the FBI in December.
As Flynn pulled up to the courthouse in a black SUV and hopped out, he was immediately met with a loud chant of, "Lock him up!" along with another person shouting, "We're with you, General Flynn!"

If Flynn felt some deja vu when he heard the chants, that's because he knows the phrase all too well. Flynn used the "Lock her up!" chant when referring to then-candidate Hillary Clinton during the 2016 Republican National Convention almost exactly two years ago in July. It was used in reference to Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.
"If I, a guy who knows this business, did a tenth of what she did, I would be in jail today," Flynn told the crowd.

The former national security adviser's Tuesday court appearance was to determine why his sentencing hearing has not yet been set. It was delayed, yet again, for the fourth time because Flynn's cooperation could still be needed in other cases surrounding special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
So far, Flynn is the only former Trump administration official to plead guilty to charges stemming from Mueller's investigation. In December, Flynn entered a guilty plea after admitting he lied to the FBI about conversations and meetings with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition. Flynn faces up to five years in prison.
As he was leaving the courthouse, Flynn was again met with chants of "lock him up!"

Since the inception of the, "lock her up!" chant, Trump's supporters have repeatedly used the phrase at rallies even after he was elected president, along with calling Clinton "Crooked Hillary."

Flynn was the fourth former Trump campaign person to be charged in connection with the Mueller probe, in addition to others who have been charged and sentenced but were not part of the campaign. Ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had his bail revoked last month for witness tampering while he awaits the outcome of separate trials on charges of money laundering and fraud.
