Accident at McDonald's Drive-Thru

Earlier this year, a man was killed when he was pinned by his own vehicle while he drove through a McDonald's drive-thru.

The driver had been paying for his order when he dropped his bank card outside the Vancouver restaurant, according to the city's police department.

Surveillance footage showed the driver reaching down to pick up the card when the car rolled forward and collided with a "structural piece" of the drive-thru.

Members of his family, as well as some of the restaurant staff, witnessed the man's death, according to a police statement.

A police spokesperson added in a news release: "Efforts were made by first responders to revive the man, but tragically, he died on scene.

"This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man."

Last year, a driver of a car smashed into a Starbucks storefront in Virginia in an incident that left one person in the hospital.

Dramatic photos showed a white Ford Escape that was almost completely inside the coffee shop, surrounded by shattered glass and window frames.
