Officials believe missing 20-year-old University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts has been found dead, according to reports. The college sophomore went missing over a month ago after a nightly jog in her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa.

Greg Willey, the vice president of Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa, told the Associated Press (AP) that a body discovered on Tuesday is believed to be Tibbetts.

A reward for information leading to Tibbetts's discovery reached $385,718, according to Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa. Willey told the AP the funds would likely be used for information that helps authorities catch whoever may be responsible for the 20-year-old's death.

"Once they catch their breath, this will turn into a weapon going the other direction to catch the person who did it," Willey said.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation told Newsweek that it would hold a press conference in Montezuma, Iowa, at 4 p.m. local time (5 p.m. EST).

"Law enforcement is not releasing anything until the press conference," spokesman Mitch Mortvedt told Newsweek.

The agency told KCRG that "a significant amount of information" would be shared during the conference.

Tibbetts mysteriously disappeared on July 18 while she was staying at her boyfriend's house. After failing to show up for work the next day, her family reported her missing. Investigators had recently announced they were focusing on five locations in and around Brooklyn.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
