Missouri City Shooting Latest: Woman Opens Fire at Food Warehouse, Killing Manager

A women who opened fire on a food distribution plant in Missouri City has died following a shootout with police.

At around 2 a.m. on Monday, the woman—whose name has not been revealed—walked into the Ben E. Keith Food warehouse and started shooting. She killed a manager, who died from multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Another person was shot in the leg and was taken to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital, according to ABC 13.

It is not known if the women was shot by police or if she took her own life during the shootout, which occurred in the parking lot. She was taken to a local hospital but was confirmed dead. There were around 20 people inside the food distribution plant at the time of the shooting.

Employees arriving at work have since been turned away by police and told to go home.

An investigation is underway by police. Around four different police squads arrived at the scene on first call. "There is a white car in the parking lot next to a red car, supposedly suspect is armed, suspect is laying down in front of a car," the call said. "Unknown if she has been hit, officers have been fired at."

According to Fox News, the Ben E. Keith Food Distribution Center is the eighth largest food distributor in the United States and the fourth largest beverage distributor.

Speaking to the press, Missouri City Police Department captain Paul Poulton said they were continuing with secondary searches, securing the facility and processing the crime scene. Poulton told reporters the investigation would be ongoing for some time.
