With approximately half of the MLB season left, the National League MVP race is starting to take shape. Like its American League counterpart, the NL MVP has a clear favorite heading into the final three months of the regular season. But there's more than enough baseball left to guarantee some wild odds shifts in the coming weeks.
We've scoured the industry's top sportsbooks to assemble the latest betting odds for this year's NL MVP award. Explore the MVP market and other futures bets on your preferred betting outlet for a shot at sizable cash winnings this summer.
NL MVP Odds (as of 6/28/2024)

Shohei Ohtani's first season with the Dodgers is going swimmingly, to say the least. LA's superstar DH is the odds-on favorite to win the NL MVP, with each sportsbook giving him -200 odds or better through the halfway point. Ohtani, who won the 2023 AL MVP with the Angels, would join Frank Robinson as the only player to win an MVP award in both leagues.
A few names are challenging Ohtani for the MVP, including his Dodgers teammate Freddie Freeman. Bryce Harper and Marcell Ozuna hope to slug their way to MVP consideration in the coming months, while infielders Ketel Marte and Francisco Lindor are also fighting for baseball's best individual award.
Top 3 Bets for NL MVP
Choosing the right player for NL MVP or any futures bet requires skill, patience and lots of luck. While there are many options to choose from, there are three players who you should consider over the rest.
Shohei Ohtani -200
Ohtani's first two MVP seasons were highlighted by his prowess at the plate and his dominance on the mound. Although he's not pitching for the Dodgers until next season, he's batting well enough from the DH spot to claim his third MVP. Ohtani leads the National League in batting average (.322), home runs (25), OPS (1.045) and WAR (4.7). He's also second in hits (100) and third in RBI (61), meaning there's a realistic shot at a Triple Crown.
The Dodgers are a loaded team with multiple superstars, including another MVP candidate in Freeman. But LA wouldn't be 51-31 eyeing another NL West crown with Ohtani, who stands above a crowded field as the league's best hitter.
Bryce Harper +1000
The MVP argument for Harper took a blow after the first basemen went on the 10-day IL with a low-grade hamstring strain. However, a quick recovery and swift return should help Harper regain momentum. The 31-year-old is the heartbeat of the first-place Phillies, sitting in the top five in batting average (.303), home runs (20), RBI (58), OPS (.981) and WAR (3.9). He also plays the field, something DHs like Ohtani and Marcell Ozuna have working against them.
Philadelphia sports an MLB-best 53-28 record, so voting for Harper means siding with the best player on the best team. That's one of many reasons to bet on Harper, though he'll need a strong second half to catch Ohtani in several critical categories.
Alec Bohm +9000
It's hard to find a real sleeper at this point in the season, but we'll go with Bohm. The 27-year-old leads the league with 65 RBI and 28 doubles and boasts top-ten ranks in average (.301), OPS (.839) and offensive WAR (2.6). Bohm also plays third base, one of baseball's most important positions, and anchors Philadelphia's high-scoring lineup.
Bohm has an opportunity to impress voters while Harper and Kyle Schwarber (left groin strain) are on the IL. If he can continue driving in runs and winning games for Philadelphia, you'll see his odds trend upward in the coming weeks.
