Mom Shares 'Amazing' Hack For Getting Kids to Wash Their Hands Using Lego

The pandemic has brought about a new emphasis on the importance of handwashing.

However, while we adults know that this is the best way to keep germs at bay it can be tricky to encourage children to keep their hands clean.

But not anymore. Why? Because one woman on TikTok has come up with a clever way to motivate kids into lathering their hands in soap, and it has been viewed 548,500 times.

Posting to the app on January 3 via her account Washy_wash, the woman showcased the impressive method.

What exactly does it entail?

Well, the video begins with her unscrewing the top of a plastic soap dispenser and pushing in a selection of Lego bricks, before fastening it back up.

Text overlaying the footage reads: "Let's motivate your kids to wash their hands. I've mixed 2 hand washes and added Lego."

She then explains: "Once they finish soap, they can collect all the Lego cubes."

Washy_wash captioned the informative video, which can be watched here, writing: "Lego hand wash. Motivate your kids to wash their hands [soap emoji] #viral #diy #fyp."

The useful hack can be done with any array of small toys and has gained lots of attention online, having attracted nearly 16,600 likes.

Many people have also headed to the comments section to share their praise for the clever tip.

One TikTok user, Laura Williams, wrote: "That's an amazing idea babe."

Another person, Bonbon, added: "Great idea but my kids would just dump the soap and grab the Lego!! Lol."

However, Washy_wash suggested that a solution to this would be for the woman to "glue the top."

Mer called the hack "awesome", whereas Olivia Lundström typed: "Good job."

Clean Tok SG stated: "So cute! I don't even have kids."

Andrea Ferguson commented: "This is a very very good idea!!"

However, not everyone was convinced by the hack, including Tvangelder03 who shared: "This wouldn't motivate my kids. It's not enough to build anything. Who comes up with this stuff?"

LittleCraftsbyNicole opined: "This is good for a child who doesn't use 10 pumps at a time to wash their hands."

Additionally, another creative hack we recently found on TikTok provided a clever method for peeling potatoes without using any utensils.

Shannon Doherty, known on TikTok as @athomewithshannon, shared the hack on November 3 and it has so far gained more than 256,400 views. But what do you need? Just some ice, a stove and your hands!

Newsweek has contacted Washy_wash for comment.
