Mom Shares Creative Hack for Getting Children to Tidy Away Their Toys

Children love to play, but tidying away their toys? Not so much.

However, one mom on TikTok has shared a genius method for ensuring that her kids want to clean up after themselves by making it fun.

A woman known online as @fawn_design posted the hack on June 7, explaining it "worked like a charm."

Admitting she learned the hack from TikTok user @mollythemom, she begun the video by speaking into the camera in her living room as her four daughters tidied their toys away in the background.

She said: "Mom hack. If you want your kids to happily put things away and for the load to be equally shared—because usually it's consistently the same person doing all the cleaning—pick a mystery item and whoever picks that item up and puts it away in the right spot wins a prize."

She then added: "And it tricks them every time!" This method of gamifying chores is so smart, and we cannot wait to try it.

The video has since been viewed more than 2.6 million times, and has surpassed 235,000 likes.

Many took to the comments section to share their views on the creative method.

One TikTok user, Katie, wrote: "I love this and I'm not even a mom."

Another person, 9 Roses Co, joked: "Does this work on husbands? Asking for a friend..."

Sam added: "My 5th grade teacher did this at the end of the day. Sometimes it was a paper clip, piece of scrap paper with dot on it. Etc."

An account by the name of user2639328849982 shared an alternative method, writing: "My mom would play eye spy. She would pick a color and we would pick up all things that matched the color."

Sam Powers-Jewell admitted: "I do this. Holding a cookie. Who ever picks up the item gets said cookie."

Lauren Jensen stated: "Yep. We played the 'magic trick game' in my classroom."

However, not everyone was keen on the trick, including a social media user called TW, who wrote: "But then whoever loses has a meltdown."

TikTok is awash with many other useful mom hacks, including a creative, and creepy, method for ensuring your children sleep in their own bed.

Spoiler alert: it involves a toy monkey and some hair extensions!

Additionally, another mother posted a video on how to bathe your infant safely using an unexpected house hold item which most of us already have lying around.
