A Texas mom who had just given birth to twins wasn’t prepared for another surprise 15 months later.

Mattie Goetz (@mattie.goetz99) shared a clip on TikTok in a wheelchair with her identical twin boys cradled in her arms.

The text overlay reads: “Wonder what I’ll look like 15 months postpartum.” The clip then cuts to Goetz in the hospital again, after she had just given birth to her fifth child.

When the first clip was filmed, Goetz and her husband Blake were heading home to a full house already, with two older children, Waylon and Georgia, eagerly waiting to meet their new siblings.

“Fifteen months later, I found myself back in the hospital welcoming our daughter into the world,” Goetz told Newsweek.

The mom of five said the pregnancy that followed the twins was a complete surprise. Blake had originally envisioned a smaller family, and even after agreeing to try for a third child, the couple endured back‑to‑back miscarriages. When they eventually became pregnant again, it came not with one baby—but two.

By the time the twins arrived, Goetz said four children felt like more than enough. Still, having grown up as the youngest of six herself, the idea of a big family never scared her.

“While we were nervous, we also came to the realization, ‘What’s one more?’” she said.

This time, Goetz and Blake chose to keep the pregnancy mostly private. Only a small circle of friends and family knew early on, with some relatives finding out as late as 32 weeks.

Many others didn’t learn the news until after their daughter was born—a decision Goetz said was intentional.

“When you have a lot of kids, it comes with a lot of opinions,” she said, adding that they wanted to protect their peace.

Adding to the surprise, Goetz and Blake kept the baby’s gender a secret until birth. They didn’t know whether they were welcoming a boy or a girl until the moment she arrived—a final reveal Goetz described as “going out with a bang” on what they believe will be their last baby.

Today, life with five children under five—Waylon, Georgia, twins Beau and Beckett and 3-week-old Goetz—is exactly what you might imagine: loud, chaotic and full.

“I’m no stranger to showing the good, the bad and the ugly,” Goetz said. “It’s also such a blessing; our table will always be full.”

“Having kids back to back definitely makes them best of friends,” she said. “So, laughter is constantly ringing through the house, but it’s also a WWE smackdown every now and then. It’s a good balance of fun and chaos.”
