Moment Woman Realizes Her Cat Is Stuck up a Tree During a Storm Goes Viral

A cat named Rosie has left the internet worried after a video of her getting stuck on a tall tree during a violent storm in Ireland went viral on social media.

The video, shared on TikTok on Saturday by the cat's owner under the username fromnorthtwosouth, shows the cat stuck on one of the highest branches of a tree in front of her house, looking at her owner who's watching helplessly from her window.

In the viral clip, the cat's owner can be heard saying: "Guys, literally, I'm looking at my window and that is my cat! And it's like a hurricane," as the cat looks at her from the tree.

At one point, the owner says they're going to need to call the fire brigade to rescue the cat, but another voice can be heard saying "it's going to cost a fortune."

According to Firefighter Insider, in the United States, most fire departments do not charge you to respond to an emergency, as they are usually funded by tax revenue.

However, there are exceptions, like fire department ambulance transport and private fire departments, that do charge for their services.

Almost 70 percent of fire departments in the U.S. are volunteer-based, which means that the majority of firefighters don't get paid.

The National Fire Protection Association estimates there were about 1,080,800 career and volunteer firefighters in the United States in 2019. Of the total number of firefighters 358,000, 33 percent, were career firefighters and 722,800, 67 percent, were volunteers.

The video, which has been viewed over 1.1 million times and liked over 160,000 times since it was first posted, has left users worried about the fate of the cat. One, Eve Coogan, commented: "Please update," followed by three crying faces.

Another user, 0i0_ella_0i0, had no idea firefighters charged: "Wait... you have to pay for the firefighters?"

And Johannexoxo said: "My [mom's] house went on fire. We're in Dublin, €500, but I question how many people pay it."

Rachel added: "When my house burned down we were actually fined €100."

Another user, maevekehoe695 said: "During Hurricane Ophelia in Ireland a few years ago, my cat stayed on a tree branch for over an hour, she loved it."
