What We Know About Gemma Chan's Series 'The Moon Represents My Heart'

If you are missing Stranger Things already, there is good news coming your way.

Shawn Levy and Gemma Chan are teaming up to hopefully bring audiences a new sci-fi series, titled The Moon Represents My Heart.

The series is based on the upcoming novel of the same name by Thai-Chinese author Pim Wangtechawat and will cover a whole load of topics including time travel, family relationships and fate.

Shawn Levy's production company 21 Laps has optioned Pim Wangtechawat's forthcoming debut novel, The Moon Represents My Heart, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Moon Represents My Heart tells the story of a British-Chinese family whose members have the secret ability to time-travel.

Their son Tommy puts his time-traveling abilities to the test to help find their parents, who mysteriously disappear during a time-traveling trip.

Wangtechawat's website teases a little of what audiences can expect from her book and their series.

It reads: "When Tommy's parent's time-travel and never return, time stands still. But as everyone begins to move forward, Tommy is stuck in the past which has ramifications for his life in the present.

"The Moon Represents My Heart is a story about relationships between parent and child, whether one can accept the choices of the other, and whether they would make the same decision again."

The novel is not yet available and is set for publication in spring 2023.

Who Is Involved With 'The Moon Represents My Heart'?

Shawn Levy's production company signed a deal with Netflix back in 2017 and The Moon Represents My Heart falls under the deal, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Levy and his producing partner Josh Barry are to be joined by Gemma Chan, who is to also serve as an executive producer on the project.

21 Laps Senior Vice President Emily Morris, is to oversee the project.

Levy's company has been behind some of the biggest TV shows and movies to date, with many of them finding a home on Netflix including Free Guy, The Adam Project, Stranger Things, Night at the Museum and Cheaper by the Dozen.

At the moment, The Moon Represents My Heart does not yet have a release date, but the screen adaption is set to be a limited series.

Who Will Star in 'The Moon Represents My Heart'?

Gemma Chan is set to star in The Moon Represents My Heart but who exactly she will play in the series has been kept under wraps for now.

Chan is best known for her role as Sersi in Eternals and as Astrid in Crazy Rich Asians.

Other credits include Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and Transformers: The Last Knight.

She can next be seen in Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling, Apple TV's Extrapolations, and the upcoming sci-fi feature, True Love.

At the moment, other cast members have yet to be announced.
