Manchester United and Everton have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin, 27, will move to Goodison Park for a fee of £22 million ($26.7 million) to join up with Ronald Koeman, his former manager at Southampton, according to the BBC.

Schneiderlin was a major signing for former United manager Louis Van Gaal in the summer of 2015, but he struggled to hold down a starting place and has made just three Premier League appearances this season, all as a substitute, under Van Gaal's successor Jose Mourinho.

"Ed Woodward [United's executive vice chairman] informed me that the situation is close. Morgan is more than probably going to Everton," Mourinho told Sky Sports following United's EFL Cup semi-final first leg victory over Hull City at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

"I am sad and happy, sad because I like him and he could be an option for us, happy because this is what he wants, to play every game and be important in the team."
