Mother Charged With Shooting and Killing Her Two Daughters at Pennsylvania Home, Police Say

A mother has been charged with shooting dead her two daughters at a home in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, according to police.

Ambridge Police told WPXI News the shooting happened at a home in Maplewood Avenue around 1.30 p.m. on Monday. Inside, officers found the bodies of the two victims who were later identified as Kiara Bright, 16, and 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady.

Interim Chief John DeLuca told the Pittsburgh-based news station that their mother, Krisinda Bright, 48, had been arrested in relation to the shooting and was the one who reported the killings when she called 911.

Officers charged Bright with two counts of homicide and later took her to Beaver County Jail without bond, the Beaver County District Attorney's Office said.

Chief DeLuca told CBSN Pittsburgh: "When officers arrived on scene they found 2 deceased individuals inside the residence. And at that point, we also made contact and took an adult female into custody."

He did not comment on a possible motive for the double shooting.

Police were later seen carrying out an investigation and closed the street as they continued to collect evidence.
