'Ms Romney' Trends After People Remind GOP Chairwoman Decrying 'Nepotism' She's Mitt Romney's Niece
In an October 15 tweet, Ronna McDaniel, Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman, granddaughter of former Michigan Governor George Romney and niece of Senator Mitt Romney, has accused Hunter Biden of benefiting from nepotism in his Ukrainian business dealings.
Let me get this straight…
— Ronna McDaniel (@GOPChairwoman) October 15, 2019
Hunter Biden got $50K a month from a Ukrainian energy company, despite having ZERO experience in energy.
His justification?
That he was also on the board of Amtrak – more obvious nepotism.
If that’s not the swamp, I don’t know what is!
The tweet has caused the phrase "Ms. Romney" to trend on Twitter, with many pointing out the irony of McDaniel's charge about a former vice president's son. Many were quick to remind McDaniel that members of her own family had held prominent political positions before she became the RNC chair.
Hello nepotism, meet Ms. Romney!👇🏽 https://t.co/lcsJNTQyHZ

If only he had dropped his family name in a naked attempt to make it seem like made it on his own. Hey...out of curiosity have you heard of the term "self awareness" Ms. Romney-McDaniel? Just asking for a nation.

If the swamp is nepotism then you’re soaking in it, Ms Romney. https://t.co/xDVHSy72fJ

Some mocked McDaniel's tweet for lacking self-awareness.

Others cited relatives of other Republicans who have benefited from having family members in powerful positions.
Just today, I have seen Donald Trump's son, Ron Paul's son and Mitt Romney's niece speak out forcefully about how bad it is to use family connections to advance your career.

According to @GOPChairwoman, The Trump children do not deserve anything that they have and should not be participating in their dads business or the US Government. According to her, the benefits received by the Trump children are nepotism. We agree on that.

Others were simply dismissive.
Oh Ronna, this is getting sadder and sadder.

Bless your heart -- that's ADORABLE.

Seriously, comrade, you'll have to try a lot harder than that.
The GOP chairwoman has been very critical of Hunter and Joe Biden ahead of Tuesday night's Democratic presidential debate.
