Man Suspected of Murdering Girlfriend Allegedly Tried to Sell Car With Her Dead Body in It

Police in Tennessee said that a 44-year-old man arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend had attempted to sell her car with her dead body still in the back seat.

The body of Pamela Paz, 44, of Smyrna, was found on May 2 in a small parking area on Pennington Bend Road at the Briley Parkway overpass outside Nashville. She appears to have died from strangulation, a medical examiner said.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department arrested 31-year-old Robert Miquel Johnson as a suspect. Police say Johnson was Paz's boyfriend at the time of her killing.

"He was interviewed and provided an alibi, which was subsequently proven to be false," the MNPD said in a press release.

A witness later told investigators that the day before Paz's body was found, "Johnson attempted to sell her Dodge Charger with the victim deceased in the back seat," according to the police report.

Johnson is currently behind bars in Wilson County on unrelated charges of failing to appear, after being arrested on May 6. He is expected to be brought to Nashville to face criminal homicide charges.

Paz was survived by her four children.

Newsweek has contacted the police department for further comment.

There have been several other major criminal incidents in Tennessee in recent weeks.

In Memphis at the end of May, an 18-year-old man was charged with providing a handgun to a minor after Memphis Police say a 12-year-old shot a 13-year-old over a video game dispute.

Keshun Tuggle, 18, had previously told police there was a drive-by shooting and allegedly staged a crime scene because he had left his firearm out in the apartment prior to the incident. However, the victim told police that he was shot over the video game dispute and that the gun belonged to the 12-year-old—and that Tuggle had given him the firearm.

On May 10, a father in Memphis was arrested and charged with second degree murder of a 17-year-old boy he reportedly found in his daughter's bedroom.

Moore allegedly shot the teenager after he found him inside his daughter's bedroom in the family home on Edward Avenue, WMC Action News reported, citing a court affidavit.

Investigators said a fight broke out between Moore and the victim who was shot as he was leaving the scene.

The teenager's body was found in front of a home just a few houses away with several gunshot wounds early on the morning of May 6, WREG reported.
