National Christmas Tree Lighting: Live Stream, How to Watch Ceremony Attended by Trump, Melania, Family

For the last almost 100 years, an enormous tree has been adorned with strings of lights just outside the White House in an event known as the National Christmas Tree Lighting.

A tradition that began in 1923 with President Calvin Coolidge, the 96th National Christmas Tree Lighting will take place on Wednesday, November 28. The ceremony will occur inside President's Park at the Ellipse, just beyond the White House's South Lawn fountain.

Tickets to the event were given to guests for free through an online lottery system, which opened at 10 a.m. EDT on October 18 and closed at 10 a.m. EDT on October 22. Those who didn't get tickets to the event, which begins at 4:30 p.m. EST, may be able to catch a live stream of the event on the White House's YouTube page.

Although no announcement as to whether the stream will be available has been made yet, the White House put a live feed up on its YouTube page during the 2017 ceremony. Even if a live stream is not available, the Christmas Tree Lighting will definitely be broadcast at 10 p.m. EST on Ovation and REELZ.

"It's an honor to share one of the nation's oldest and most revered traditions with our viewers and we look forward to watching this cherished American pastime," Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of REELZ, said.

However, if you did get tickets to the event, the event entrance is located along 17th Street NW across from E Street NW and guests should line up from E Street North.

Performers at this year's ceremony include singer Anthony Kearns, who was the youngest member of The Irish Tenors, Christian singer and GRAMMY nominee Matthew West and country music artists Thompson Square.
