'NBA 2K21' Ratings Update 1 Buffs Kyrie Irving, Julius Randle and More
NBA 2K21 has endured an awkward transition with the late start of the 2021 season, but games are finally getting back in full swing. With that in mind, the development team at Visual Concepts has released the first of many ratings updates designed to reflect real-world performance over the next few months. While stars like Kyrie Irving and Nikola Jokić make big moves after 90, others like Kelly Oubre Jr. have been taken down a whopping four slots. Did your favorite player get buffed or nerfed? Check out the full list of adjusted ratings courtesy of the latest Courtside Report blog post.

As you can see the list of movers is quite extensive, but there are some changes in here that we're personally pretty excited about. If you're a hometown Boston Celtics fan, it's great to see younger players like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown continue to improve both on the court and in the game. And while it may sting to see Kyrie Irving feeling right at home in Brooklyn, the increase to his base stats is certainly warranted. Also in New York, Julius Randle continues to be a bit of an underappreciated player in the game, but at least he's getting some recognition with the recent adjustment. The same can be said for Colin Sexton for the Cavs who's certainly making big moves with his sizable +3 swing, but some might say he could stand to be represented a little better.
On the other side of the spectrum are those who've taken a hit from the January 7 ratings update. In that regard we feel pretty bad for Outbre Jr, who's being knocked down four whole notches from his previous spot. Despite some less-than-stellar performance, that one's probably a bit too severe. Then, of course, there are plenty of ratings adjustments that seem a bit nonsensical. Despite having a few solid games with the Raptors this year already, Kyle Lowry has mysteriously been nerfed by one point. Like nearly every single ratings update we've seen in recent years, the first big update for NBA 2K21 is a mixed bag of tweaks. Nothing here looks completely and utterly wrong, but the degree to which these stats are correct will vary widely to each reader.
NBA 2K21 is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Stadia.
