Nebraska Man Arrested for Threatening Neighbor With Chainsaw 'Because She Was Black'

A Nebraska man has been arrested on suspicion of making terroristic threats after yelling racist slurs at a Black woman while waving a chainsaw.

Daniel Stueck, 41, was arrested by Lincoln Police Department following an incident involving his neighbor on Saturday.

The woman, identified as Norma Nimox, was entering her building on the 1800 block of North 68th Street about 1:30 p.m when she was confronted by Stueck, police said.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Stueck allegedly started revving the engine of the chainsaw, which he waved towards her while demanding she get off "his property." Police said the suspect also yelled yelling racial epithets at his neighbor, who fled before calling 911.

Stueck was later arrested on suspicion of making terroristic threats and booked into the Lancaster County Jail with a hate crime enhancement.

Police said Stueck does not own the complex where he was threatening the woman. Officers said that the 41-year-old and been the victim of some thefts recently and was blaming his neighbor "because she was Black."

Nimox described her fears as she saw the suspect holding the chainsaw at the top of the complex's stairs as she entered the building, having first noticed him standing in this window on the second floor.

"I see a man with a chainsaw in his hand he rips open the door," Nimox told 1011 Now.

"I'm standing in the middle part of the stairs and he's sitting at the top of the stairs. Excuse my language because it's about to get vulgar he says sup n****r."

Nimox said Stueck then started chasing her with the chainsaw in hand.

"He started up his chainsaw and he says get off my property n*****r" said Nimox.

"So he started chasing me down the stairs with the chainsaw all the way until we got to the end of the property then he stopped."

Stueck is reported to have stayed at the apartment complex after the incident. Nimox said she only returned when police arrived to arrest him.

"The neighbors upstairs say he was starting his chainsaw in his apartment all day," Nimox added. "I guess when he seen me he just found his victim."

Nimox said her landlord has not said whether Stueck will be allowed to return to the complex. She said it no longer felt safe for her and her 5-year-old son to be there.

"It's something that you hear in movies," said Nimox. "Somebody like being chased with a chainsaw, it's just unreal."

Lincoln Police Department have been contacted for comment.
