How Many Episodes of 'Clickbait' Are There and Will There Be a Season 2?

Since it debuted on Netflix in late August, Clickbait has won scores of fans worldwide and has secured a spot in the platform's Top 10 chart.

Centered on the kidnapping of Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier), the mystery series delves into the world of cyber crime and examines how technology can both help and impede a criminal investigation.

After seeing a clip of her brother online, in which he appears beaten and is forced to hold up signs confessing to various crimes, Pia (Zoe Kazan) teams up with Detective Roshan Amir (Phoenix Raei) to piece together clues, desperately hoping for his safe return.

Adding another layer of despair to the situation, the video states that once it reaches 5 million views, Nick will be killed.

Over the course of the show, the mystery shrouding Nick's character—and the events that led to his kidnapping—start to come together, as more and more secrets about him and his family are revealed.

After a series of pulse-racing chase scenes, dramatic revelations and complicated relationships, the show culminates in an explosive ending—full of yet more twists and unexpected turns.

While the storyline is tied up neatly, that hasn't stopped fans from wanting more. So, will there be another series of Clickbait? Here's the lowdown...

How Many Episodes of Clickbait Are There?

In total, there are eight episodes of Clickbait, available to stream now on Netflix.

Each episode focuses on a different player in the game, starting with Pia's relationship to Nick and her discovery that he's missing.

In the suspenseful opener, viewers not only root for Pia and the police to beat the clock, they learn more about her strained relationship with her brother, which, in part, spurs her on in her quest.

The other episodes then focus on Detective Roshan Amir, Nick's wife Sophie (played by Betty Gabriel), his alleged mistress Emma Beesly (Jessie Collins), a reporter named Ben Park (Abraham Lim), the brother of one of Nick's supposed girlfriends (Daniel Henshall), and Nick's son Ethan (Cameron Engels).

The riddle is then unpacked in the eighth and final episode.

Will There Be a Second Season of Clickbait?

From the offset, Netflix has promoted Clickbait as a limited series, meaning the platform has no designs to create a follow-up.

That said, it is not unheard of for limited series to be extended, with the likes of HBO's Big Little Lies and The Alienist getting more episodes.

Newsweek has reached out to Netflix for comment.
