Netflix’s 'YOU' Will Return For Season 2 After Cliffhanger Ending: Everything We Know

Thriller series YOU, inspired by the book of the same name, which came to Netflix in December, will return for a second season, and it’s already in progress. That’s great news to fans of the show who were left with a major cliffhanger at the end of the first, 10-episode season.

The show features a man, Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, who becomes infatuated with a woman he meets at the bookshop where he works. He begins to obsess over her, and viewers begin to wonder how far he’s willing to go to be close to her. As the series continues, Goldberg’s obsession grows, as does the terrifying nature of the plot. Here’s what we know about Season 2. Spoilers ahead.

When It Will Premiere?

We can expect Season 2 to come soon, as the show’s Instagram page already has it listed. While there’s no official release date, it’s not a jump to assume the season will hit Netflix sometime in 2019. And we already know Netflix has some quick turnarounds. Queer Eye released two full seasons in 2018 and began filming a third.

Season 2 of YOU was announced before the show was even available to stream in America, and according to the show’s showrunner, Sera Gamble, writing for the second season is in the works, she told The Hollywood Reporter in November.

Where Will Season 2 Be Set?

Season 2 will leave the charming streets of New York and enter new territory in Los Angeles. The scene change follows that of YOU’s novel sequel, Hidden Bodies, which follows Joe as he tries to adjust to Los Angeles and sets his sights on another woman while dealing with the baggage and bodies he left behind in New York.

Will Any Characters Return?

It seems Goldberg has forgotten to tie up some loose ends. Though much of the Season 1 cast is dead at the hand of Goldberg when the first season ends and someone else is being accused of the killings, Goldberg may not be off the hook.

It’s unclear if any characters will return. John Stamos’s character, Dr. Nicky, is still alive but currently in prison. He is a likely name to return. If others will show up again, like Shay Mitchell’s Peach and the lead, Elizabeth Lail, who plays Beck, is unknown. If the series incorporates flashbacks, they’re likely to be seen again.
