'New Amsterdam' Season 3: When It Airs and How to Watch Online
New Amsterdam Season 3 is coming in March, 11 months after the last season of the NBC medical drama aired. Like medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy and The Good Doctor before it, the show will see the hospital team dealing with the coronavirus outbreak—though that is unlikely to get in the way of the personal drama of Max (played by Ryan Eggold) and the rest of the New Amsterdam medical staff.
Episodes are set to air on Tuesdays on NBC, then will be made available to stream on a different service than previously.
When does New Amsterdam Season 3 air?

Season 3 of the medical drama is set to start on March 2, 2021 at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT on NBC.
The synopsis for this first episode, titled "The New Normal," reads: "New Amsterdam is still reeling from the pandemic as a plane crash lands in the East River. When investigators come to interrogate the flight crew, Iggy fights against the clock to help the pilot uncover the truth. Max tracks down scarce medication after one of his own contracts COVID."
The remaining episodes of the season are set to air weekly on Tuesdays in the same timeslot. So far, NBC has not announced the episode count for the new season—the first season has 22 episodes, while the pandemic cut the second season down to 18 episodes. Viewers might expect a similar 18-episode order for Season 3 due to the show starting much later than usual in the year.
How to watch New Amsterdam Season 3 online
As an NBC show, New Amsterdam is set to come to NBCUniversal's new streaming service, Peacock. Each episode of the medical drama will come to Peacock the day after it airs on NBC—that is, Wednesday mornings. Episodes are expected to be released at 3:00 a.m. ET. They are also expected to be available to watch online on the NBC website and app as well as on Hulu on March 2.
Peacock is also the only streaming service to have both of the first two seasons of the show, where they are both available to watch on the Peacock's free tier with ads.
Fans who move fast will also be able to watch Season 2 on Hulu, though episodes are starting to expire from there—episode one to 14 will leave the streamer on March 3, with the remaining episodes disappearing in the coming weeks.
What to expect from New Amsterdam Season 3
The official synopsis for the new season reads: "When Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) took over New Amsterdam, he asked a simple, revolutionary question: 'How can I help?' In Season 3, Max and his team face the daunting task of sustaining that optimism while dealing with a pandemic that exposed the gaping inequities in our health care. Max is no longer content to fix a broken system. He's determined to tear it down and build something better."
New Amsterdam Season 3 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT on NBC and Wednesdays on Peacock.
