This year's New Year's Day falls on a Wednesday and all banks are closed on that day, including the Federal Reserve, according to Banks.org.
While bank offices are closed, customers can still access online banking services for their transaction needs per usual or an ATM machines where you can make deposits as well as withdraw money.
Some bank branches also have ATM drive-thru options available which can be accessed whenever the bank is closed. The exact hours of operation on New Year's Day for ATM machines vary depending on the location, but most are open late while some are open 24 hours, according to GoBankingRates.com.
Customers are advised to try to complete their transactions before New Year's Day in order to avoid any issues. All banks will resume normal hours from January 2.

Post Office
All United States Postal Service (USPS) locations will be closed on New Year's Day and no mail will be picked from the blue collection boxes on January 1. No regular mail will be delivered on January 1 but all priority mail express mail will be delivered, according to the USPS website.
All USPS branches and services will operate per usual on December 31, New Year's Eve, and will resume normal hours and services across all locations from January 2.
FedEx
The services offered by the courier, except for its Critical service, will not be operating on New Year's Day.
Some services will be available at normal business hours on December 31, including Ground, Delivery, SmartPost, Critical and Network. But others will be operating on modified hours, including the Express and Freight and FedEx Office hours, according to the FedEx website.
All services will resume as normal from January 2, but some FedEx offices will be on modified hours on January 2. Check your local branch for exact timings.
