New York Magazine's Website Hacked

Updated | New York magazine's website experienced problems for hours on Monday, after a self-described hacker overwhelmed the platform in the early morning hours. The hack came as the website was just starting to display a photo of its magazine cover showing 35 alleged victims of assault by Bill Cosby.
As the company worked to restore the website to normalcy, which ultimately happened around 2 p.m., it offered people the options of listening to several of the women's stories on Instagram and reading about them on Tumblr.
The alleged hacker, ThreatKing, disclosed the incident through a Twitter account called Vikingdom2016. He told the Daily Dot, an online newspaper, that he hates New York City because of a recent visit.
"Many stupid people at New York," ThreatKing told the Daily Dot via a Skype chat. "I have not even seen the cover, LOL."
A robotic voice in a recorded message at Vikingdom's Soundcloud page says: "We are going to destroy state websites, city websites, agency websites and court websites of the United States. You have took away our country and it's time to get it back by destroying the United States."
Our site is experiencing technical difficulties. We are aware of the issue, and working on a fix.

Dozens of women have come forward claiming to be victims of Cosby, but the comedian has rejected claims that he raped them or gave them drugs for sex. He has not been criminally charged with sexual assault or rape.
Earlier this month, the Associated Press published a report based on court documents that appeared to contradict Cosby's claims, disclosing that he admitted in 2005 to giving Quaaludes to at least one woman and getting the drugs to give to other women he wanted to have sex with.
